It is not every day that you can watch a live performance by the one and only Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett. Tonight, I reflect on my first Live Tweet event of the One Last Time performance on CBS. I was at The Radio City Music Hall for the performance, but it was a nice break from the books watching it in the library!

This not only was my first time Live Tweeting, but this was also my first time watching a performance by Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett. I’m a fan of Lady Gaga and listen to her top hits like “Applause” and “Bad Romance,” but tonight I got to see a different side of her. I had never heard Tony Bennett before or seen a performance of his, but two make quite the team. I am used to seeing Gaga be edgy and punk, but tonight her solos were elegant and tasteful. I never realized how naturally talented she is with jazz music, and this was an excellent performance to watch outside of her usual tune. Gaga's solos were stellar, and when she and Tony Bennett performed songs together, it flowed so well and made me wish I was sitting in the front row!

This was not only Tony Bennett’s last performance with Lady Gaga on stage, but it was also a celebration of his birthday. Gaga made a grand introduction for Bennett with her “New York, New York” and a warm birthday song. Gaga also made grand entrances with three different outfits throughout the whole performance - my favorite was her black dress.

Gaga’s solo performances got the audience smiling and eager for more, but her emotional speech about Tony Bennett made the performance even more special. My favorite of Bennett’s performances was “Fly Me To The Moon” - the audience was cheering for more, and I was glued to my computer screen, taking in the whole performance. The night couldn’t have ended better, with Gaga and Bennett singing “Lady Is A Tramp” and Bennett’s top song “I Left My Heart In San Francisco.”

Not only was this a heartwarming performance to watch, but I also learned so much about Twitter and social media engagement. I learned the importance of using the correct hashtags and tags. I tried to keep my hashtags brief and relative to the performance to make my Live Tweet intentional and sharp.

Also, I learned the importance of retweeting and changing up tweets. Do not just talk about what is going on - include how you are feeling, the emotions the audience is showing, and even use humor to add a unique element to your feed. Sometimes, some of my humorous attempts got likes and engagements from others, which illustrates how others are interacting with my content and trying to engage in the comments about the event. This was my first time using Twitter.

Even though I am not as familiar with this media outlet as I am with others, I know that social media has a significant role in distributing information, so it is important to have some experience with its different platforms.
